The 'Annunciation' Church in Almasu Mare-Joseni (Alba County), built in the early 15th century, preserves in the altar apse several fragments of mural painting datable to the last decades of the 18th century. Although their state of conservation is precarious, the surviving stylistic clues point to the workshop of Stan the Painter of Rasinari, also known as Stan of Orastie, the town where he settled and where he initiated many apprentices into the secrets of painting, including his wife and daughter. To one of these apprentices we owe the fragments of painting uncovered from under the whitewash in the old foundation of the knezes of Almas.
